Hello i am looking to buy a house but i cant decide where!
My idea was Illkeston as it gives me access to Derby and Nottingham so i will have allot of job opportunities around me. But also looking for a safety it big important element for me too.
if anyone has any advice on good areas to move and is it worth moving to Illkeston or maybe instead Deryb as its safer than Nottingham.

What’s your budget and are schools a factor?

I would give Ilkeston a miss, it’s a bit rough. Trowell is quite nice, or go up market and look at Breaston.

Why do you think Derby is safer than Nottingham? They both have good and bad areas, which will be reflected in price. I think Nottingham has more going on, but Derbyshire has much better scenery!

I dont really mind where as long as its not close to town centre and some decent safe area

Ilkeston is ok , good parts and bad parts same as most towns….. lots of towns between derby and Nottingham to choose from.

I would look for properties with good access to A52. Borrowash and Spondon are quite nice but affordable.

Stapleford

I would avoid Ilkeston- ryegardless of how rough it is the 'centre' such as it is is very run down. How big a property does that budget need to get you as it could be a stretch. Was going to suggest Kimberley but not sure what you would get at your budget.
