I am looking to buy a property (Semi Detached) house around Stoke on Trent. my budget is around 170K. I have no children, only wife and myself with couple of Cats. We are in 50s. Please if you could suggest the safe areas around Stoke on Trent, where 170K would be enough for a house. Thank you so much.

Stoke on trent encompasses 6 towns and many villages, can you narrow it down a bit?
Which ‘side’ of the city for example? West is closer to M6.
I live close to Newcastle under lyme, my DD lives in Bradwell, we have relatives in Longton and Blythe Bridge.
You can get a nice 2 bed semi near me for £170k , mine ( 3 bed ) would be closer to £200k but you can get a 2 bed bungalow for around £170k.

thanks for your message. I would not mind which direction as long as its safe and comes under the budget. Thanks

Personally, I’d stay away from Stoke, Hanley, Shelton, Longton and Burslem in general. The A50 / A500 corridor is horrendous for traffic, closed almost daily due to accidents around Meir/Longton and the Bet 365 stadium.
I’d concentrate South of the A500 from Trentham up to Talke, which takes in Trent Vale, Clayton, Newcastle, Silverdale, Knutton, Milehouse, Chesterton, Basford, May Bank, Wolstanton, Bradwell and Red Street ( Stay away from Waterhayes and Crackley at the top of Chesterton). There is Aldi, Lidl, Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco, B+M, M&S and the main Hospital all within 10 minutes of all places mentioned.

Here you are. This is in the lovely quiet cul-de-sac where my son lives in Silverdale. 5 minutes walk from a small parade of shops and a library, 20 minutes walk (there are buses too!) into Newcastle-under-Lyme centre, huge Morrisons about a mile away. Stoke isn't far away.
It's very friendly.

I’m not far away from that G&T 🙂 tucked away at the top end of Knutton. A lovely bungalow has just sold for £160k in my avenue.

How did I forget Morrisons? It’s my nearest supermarket 🫣

You’ll know where to avoid as soon as you see it. My family lives in Blythe bridge/meir park and it’s very suburban there. Trentham is nice but I think more expensive. Some parts of Blurton are lovely but some are very council. That’s where I grew up
