We are planning on building a garden room at the bottom of our garden, in an area which is all concrete. It will be used as a gym/workout space and an office (we plan to put a treadmill and weights with a yoga mat one side, with a small desk and chair on the other side.) So far, we’ve looked at a few options:
Booths Garden Studios (their basic QCB model looks like it would be ideal)
Garden Retreats (but these seem a bit pricier and I’ve heard they have a long waiting list)
AMC garden rooms
Or we could ask a local builder to build something but I don’t have a quote for this. We don’t want to spend crazy amounts but would like it to be good quality and last a long time.
We are leaning towards Booths because they seem to have very positive reviews and a long guarantee of 25 years. We would want to add electricity and perhaps air con as the area gets very sunny in the afternoons. We’re looking at their 12’ x 8’ option.
I am also wondering about how secure these units are and if you have put in any security measures. The bottom of our garden backs on to a public thoroughfare and we have had problems before with people fly tipping in our garden. I am nervous about the possibility of a break in, as the room will be quite far from the house. I wouldn’t leave any electrical items in there overnight but I know gym equipment can be a target for thieves.
Does anyone have experience with any of these companies or any general advice about building / securing a garden room?
Thanks!
