Filling a big hole!

I’ve just had a new radiator fitted and been left with two huge holes in my wall! They ran really deep into the wall, so I consulted with Google who suggested foam filler…

This is what I am left with, and whilst the holes are gone, it looks bloody awful!! How can I fix this so I can paint over it and it looks reasonably ok?? I can’t afford to get anyone to sort it for me, and I don’t have many supplies/tools but willing to buy something if it can solve the problem!

You need to cut back the excess flat to the wall. I've found on old bread knife does the job!

Don’t panic this is an easy fix. Cut the excess off with a knife, filler any gaps, sandpaper it smooth, then paint.

Agree with the the advice above! Our old house had some significant gaps in plaster filled with expanding foam!

Well I was going to send you some of my GM sponge cake but it looks like you already have some 😆
