Hello! I’d love to paint the fitted wardrobe doors in my dd room. They’re like 90s wardrobe not sure how to explain the texture but it’s like wood with some plastic coating on it? Any tips?

Watching with interest . That sounds like kitchen cabinets finish .

Givemethesun · 23/03/2025 14:41

Yes it is! It’s just a typical 90s fitted wardrobe finish @whatwouldyoudoifisangoutofkey

Prime with zinsser bin

@qwertyasdfgzxcv
thanks! Zinsser bin sounds quite foolproof so sounds like a good suggestion.

Yes, you can paint over Zinsser BIN Aqua with almost any type of paint. It makes the perfect base coat in many situations”

I painted mine (ikea pax) with Valspar furniture paint, they didn’t even need primer.

Thanks that also sounds good. Did you have to sand first?

@Givemethesunno, I cleaned them really well with sugar soap and I did a watered down coat of the paint first, then 2 coats of the full paint. No wax or lacquer. I had the paint mixed to my choice of colour. They’ve lasted 3 years with no wear and tear so far
