Relocating West Country

My DH has got a remote job, we have a 9mo and 3.5yo. Want to relocate before starting school, looking in the Dorset/ Somerset - Chard, Crewkerne areas. Looking for good schools, half an hour to the coast, semi rural country slow living with lots of outdoor space. Any suggestions greatfully appreciated? Thank you

We live in Crewkerne and love it! We moved here about a year ago from the south east. We’re very happy with the primary school DC is at and the town is pretty and quite convenient- it’s got a swimming centre, a big Lidl and Waitrose, nice cafes/pubs and a decent playground. There’s also the Bincombe nature reserve which is absolutely lovely for a walk. We like the fact that it feels quite rural with lots of lovely villages nearby, but it’s also not too far to Yeovil and Taunton which is quite handy.

We haven’t actually been to the coast much so far but went to Charmouth a few times in summer, which is a nice sandy beach and exactly half an hour away.

Chard we weren’t so keen on but we were partly put off by the fact that all the houses we looked at seemed to have an elevated flood risk. Have you considered Ilminster too? I love Ilminster and would live there if I didn’t already live here 😁
