Would you move rentals?

We live in Flat A. Been here four years.

Flat A: £1,500 a month, 45sqm, 40 minute commute on the tube, very tired bathroom and kitchen.

Flat B: £2,200 a month, 70sqm, 15 minute walk to work, brand new bathroom and kitchen.

£8,000 a year extra in rent is a lot but easily affordable. Flat B is not somewhere we would buy so would be a fun experience

I think important to weigh up how much moving to B would save you in time and money and if you value that, so how much would you save not commuting, could you go home for lunch instead of eating lunch out at work, also factor in that a move is expensive and there is potential for that £2200 rent to increase regularly

Sounds lovely! I'd do it.

I always advocate living in the nicer property if it's quite easily affordable and you intend to buy one day; that way you're not scrabbling to get out of the rental and potentially making a poor purchase decision because you can't stand being in your current home.
