Just moved house into a Victorian terrace that hasn't been modernised in a while. Does anyone know if this pipe lagging in our basement could be asbestos? I'm really paranoid about stuff like this so any help appreciated!

Asbestos is a fibrous mineral material.

The insulation in your picture looks like common or garden polyethylene pipe insulation. The same stuff plastic bags are made of.

It could be best bet is to get it sampled. As long as it isn't damaged it is safe though.

With it being an old property there is a good chance you have asbestos somewhere in your home as it is everywhere.
