Is this a west facing garden?

Can someone help me figure out if this is a west facing garden please? (In purple) The listing doesn’t say, estate agent said they are not sure but will get back to me. I’ve found development plans for a neighbouring property (in red) and don’t want to bother viewing if the garden won’t get much sun. Thanks

Is this a west facing garden?

The back garden faces north.
The side garden to the left of the house faces west.

The red boundary garden is west facing.

Purple is facing in same direction as compass point, so north facing.

Just checking. The EA needs to think about this?

Abra1t · 12/03/2025 08:43

If the EA can’t work out north, I’d be careful about any of their other claims re a property.

You’ve got a massive north compass to the right of the pic!! If the garden is the purple triangular bit it’s facing the same direction as the compass pointing towards north

The side garden to the left of the house faces west.

That will be a driveway to the garage.
That garage will also be casting a shadow across the garden in the afternoons.

What garden? That’s tiny.

Chewbecca · 12/03/2025 12:41

The purple triangle is mostly North, probably NNW.

anniegun · 12/03/2025 12:44

You are going to get very little sun in that garden.

Advocodo · 12/03/2025 15:45

It’s N/NW.

ringsandthings · 12/03/2025 16:58

I had a North facing garden once, and it did get sun!

stanleypops66 · 13/03/2025 11:04

It's N/NW but it's an odd triangular shape.

There are quite a few buildings close to it which might create shade. Have a look at Google satellite, if it was taken on a sunny day you might see which way the shadows fall.

JollyMollyPolly · 13/03/2025 12:35

Try this website, it's not 100% accurate but will give you a good indication of the shadows at different times of the year. North facing with buildings to the east and west would suggest that the garden will get very little sun, other than at the height of summer.

Thanks. I have just stolen that and added it to my tools for home buyers thread. Cheers.
