Anyone moved to Palmers Green recently?

We recently moved to Palmers Green and are really struggling to adjust. Anyone else found the same after moving here? Were previously in Hornsey- not the nicest parts per se but very accessible etc. Bought a conversion flat here full of hidden issues that did not come up clear enough on the survey - freezing in winter and have been quoted 18k for windows alone. Apart from the flat just seems the area has no anchor point, a bit souless. Even though its not very far north I feel cut off from the rest of London takes hours to get anywhere South or West. Any others experiencing buyers regret?

Quite a few areas of North London are like that. I don't know Palmers Green well but used to live in Bounds Green and there are lovely little cafes, pubs and parks dotted around, so you might just need a bit of time to find them

We moved to Bounds Green recently actually also from around Hornsey - its definitely a bit more 'suburbia' and I'm missing the fitness options of Crouch End but there is quite a nice neighbourhood spirit! The vibe is a bit more young families but there's some good coffee and brunch spots near the park on Aldermans Hill and Myddleton Road has a few nice places like Hillbilly Social and La Bottega. Totally agree about getting to south being a mission though!

Get a few quotes for the windows - we used Silverline based in Bounds Green and were very impressed.

there is a great community around the primary school (Hazelwood) but if you don’t have kids yu could try joining the Palmers Green Action Team who are an amazing community action group.

Hey, just stumbled on your post. We moved from Hornsey to Palmers Green 12 years ago. It took a while to adjust as we were so used to Crouch End being on our doorstep but we’ve been so happy here and honestly wouldn’t change it for the world. Once you get to know the area it has so much going for it. Alderman’s Hill has great coffee shops and restaurants (The Yard, Starfish, Holtwhites, 90 on the Green) plus there’s Kiva and Stage on Green Lanes. Southgate Green is lovely with Holybella and Browns, plus Diamond Supermarket has everything you’ll ever need! Loads of international food and fab parks. But more than that, we’ve really found a strong, friendly community where we can’t leave the house without bumping into someone we know and having a chat. We really have grown to love the area so much and I hope you do too.

Happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for all the replies - delayed replying! Going to see if there are any meet up groups eg for over 50s / those working from home to help with networking/ socialising. Will check out the Action team. Thank you
