I often look here and have a look at the Right Move links people post.

Well, I am proud to say I have found this corker on Facebook

The price is eye watering BUT ... well , check out the photos.

Enjoy (as I have often enjoyed others links)

It's not THAT bad. It just needs a bit of a tidy up, a bit of a clean, and a lick of paint. You're not going to get much better for £250,000 in London.

I don't know anything about the area. (Peckham/Camberwell,) but it's only 4 miles from the centre of London/Charing Cross area, so this could be quite a good investment.

Cattery · 23/02/2025 10:35

It’s cheap. SE5 is a popular area 10 mins from Central London.

Nellieinthebarn · 23/02/2025 10:45

It has a look of an ex local authority flat that has been bought and rented out. Its a bit of a state, but probably structurally sound. 250k for London isn't that eye watering sadly. Its got a tiny bit of outside space that a lot don't have, and a separate kitchen is becoming increasingly rare in flats. People often squeeze one into the living room and make the old one a bedroom if they can. Having a local authority as the free holder can be a problem (if I am right about it being ex-council)

mynameiscalypso · 23/02/2025 10:51

I usually enjoy looking at ridiculous properties people post but this just seems...okay. Of course, it's a tip but I've looked round plenty of places that were similar because they were rented out (normally to too many people than fit). Once you move all the junk out, it has the makings of a totally fine little flat. It looks from the pics like it gets a fair amount of light too which is nice.

Chuchoter · 23/02/2025 10:52

What a nasty post.

It's cluttered with possessions but you don't know if the person who lives there has been unwell or has a disability and relies on help etc.

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/02/2025 11:00

That’s a decent investment for the money I would think if the location is good. Tidy up, paint job, etc. 250k is not an eye-watering amount these days (sadly).

EmeraldRoulette · 23/02/2025 11:03

Not sure why you posted

but I am astonished to see a flat priced so low in London. I'll be interested to see what they get for it. I suspect a lot more.

edit - what's to "enjoy"? Is this a crafty way of advertising on MN? Yes it's a mess but we don't know the circs. A flat priced like that will get attention pdq and probably get a competitiom for offers. Before I bought my current place, I viewed an underpriced flat which ended up with offers at more than £30k above asking, at which point they decided to readvertise in case they could get more.

SoScarletItWas · 23/02/2025 11:04

It’s a tip but there’s a decent amount of space and it’s a solid ex-local authority place. My friend has one in east London of a similar size and shape but less of a mess and it was valued at 330.

Bit judgey this one, I’m afraid, OP.

Mercurial123 · 23/02/2025 11:05

Price is reasonable for London. Agree with others it's not too bad. If you have the money to refurbish, it could be a good investment.

INeedNewShoes · 23/02/2025 11:19

That's someone's home you're asking us to snigger at. What's the matter with you?

I got on the property ladder with a very similar flat in London in my twenties. You would have thought it was AWFUL and I'm guessing you wouldn't have been willing to live there. I'll be mortgage free in my forties.

spuddy4 · 23/02/2025 11:21

London prices amaze me. It looks like a council estate (no hate from me because I'm from a council estate myself. Blows my mind that where I live you could have a 3 bedroom semi detached house with a drive. How the hell people get on the property ladder in London I don't know. I'll also confess I have no idea where in London this is, is it in a good location?

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 23/02/2025 11:29

Wouldn't live there for a gold clock

I am surrounded by these types of local authority properties where I live (London). That looks a bargain although would be interested in the length of the lease. This is a good size for a one bed although at present looks like the living room is acting as a second bedroom.

When someone is renting their property out, they don’t really have any say in what the tenants do ahead of the photographs being taken.

Cattreesea · 23/02/2025 11:32

It is simply an ex council flat that needs a big clean up and clear out, then it will make an OK first home.

Council flats are very likely to have built better than many current new built flats and usually have more space.

SE5 is not a convenient location to get into central London.

Of course the issue with an ex council property is that private owners can be hit with big communal repairs bill by the council or have some degree of anti social behaviour on the estate.

But frankly there is no need for you to be so judgemental.

IsadoraQuagmire · 23/02/2025 11:32

It's really cheap, but it's on a council estate and they usually are cheaper.

Cattery · 23/02/2025 11:34

SE5 is Camberwell. It’s a bus ride into Central London

Doggymummar · 23/02/2025 11:34

I guess this is yours and you are trying to drive eyeballs to it. It's a bargain, but I don't want a flat in London. Thankyou

No tube nearby? I don't know why but in my mind I thought most of London had very good public transport, saying that I come from South Wales and we get one train an hour...

Hurdlin · 23/02/2025 11:37

It's clearly a rental, maybe the tenants are unhappy about leaving and having the flat on the market while they're still living there so made no effort to tidy. Would you not wait til they've left before making the property presentable for market?

Hoppinggreen · 23/02/2025 11:38

London innit

OrangeCushioning · 23/02/2025 11:42

That’s really cheap.

My guess is that there may a tenant there currently who has no interest in whether it sells.

EmeraldRoulette · 23/02/2025 11:42

@TheOGCCL lease length was my first thought too

@MaloryJones what was your reason for posting? I see people posting for unusual decor and high prices. You seem cross now.

if you don't know London and thought it was pricey, just say "oops, my bad". It's like you thought you posted something imressive and now you're upset. But you kind of have - i'd never have guessed that low!

If you were posting because it's untidy that's just rude. Could be a tenant, could be a person who isn't able.

or just a clever person who knows that price will get a lot of attention and they probably work a 60 hour week and will have no mortgage soon. Been there, everything was shoved in a cupboard!

I downsized to a tiny place because I care for mum (long story). It's really hard to keep tidy. I don't expect to live here forever and already ditched a bunch of "stuff" which I regret tbh.

That estate is in a bit of a tube/train blackhole albeit plenty of buses.

The flat is ok for the price though I think- looks like it's top floor and got good sized rooms and plenty of storage. Could potentially knock the kitchen through for a big kitchen/ living space.

Why? Separate kitchens are such a rare find in small flats. It's a selling point!

i was North London but South London not having a Tube isn't an issue. Tbh Sarf folk seem to get to central quicker. The overground connections are great, buses are probably an issue for all reasons I won't rant about here. I have left so I can cross them off my list of annoyances 😂
