Pipes blocked behind the wall

My kitchen sink is blocked. I have taken apart lol the pipes I can access and they are not the problem so the blockage must be in the unaccessible area behind the wall.

I have tried unblocking with a plunger which hasn't done anything although the plunger is pulling dirty water up do maybe it is doing something but not sure of I should persist with that.

DH is all for getting something long and bendy and showing it down the pipes to try and shift the blockage but I think that could possibly compact the blockage rather than free it.

Is there any way to shift the blockage ourselves or are we going to have to get a professional itln?

It's probably fat that has congealed and cold water is heavier than hot water which means it forms a layer at the base of the pipe even if you run hot water down initially.
I've had success using soda crystals as per packet instructions.
On other occasions all I've needed was a squirt of washing up liquid neat, plunger, then, repeated kettles of hot water.
Snakey thing does work too if nothing else budges the bung

Thanks for the tips. I'll get on the washing up liquid and kettle method now and see if I achieve anything before going to bed.

Try that ^^ with the hot water its small enough not to compact. Most tool shop and some pound shops have them

HG or Mr Muscle sink unblocked should work if it is congealed fat etc- just dissolves it.

Boiling hot water with lots of soda crystals might work

We have literally just had this problem. We ended up cutting the disposal pipe outside the wall (outside the house) and removing a section. Shoving the hose up it and giving it a blast. Then running the sink... A snake of congealed fat then came out. Proper rank. My DH is currently in the process of replacing the section of pipe we removed.

If you have a vacuum cleaner that does liquids, just suck it up!

I live in a block of flats so accessing the other side of the pipe is not an option. Anyway, this morning I shover a metal measuring tape down the pipe which dislodged something and unleashed an almighty stench.

I did pour Mr muscle down before bed last night but there was so much water clogged up in the pipes I think the Mr muscle didn't even reach the source of the blockage, it seemed to be all still sat at the top of the pipe this morning.
Problems seems to be solved now but I will thrown another dose of Mr muscle down now as it will get through to whatever is down there clogging things up.

Now it is unblocked you should keep doing whatever you think is having an impact. Eg alternate mr muscle and hot kettles with soda crystals every few days until the blockage seems to be fully cleared. If it is congealed things it could take a while to fully clear.

And if anyone is putting fats which would be solid at room temperature down the sink, they need to stop so the blockage doesn't reoccur.
