If you lived in N16/E17 and have left London where did you move to next?

Simply that.

Looking to leave London in order to get more house and garden. I like the community of Walthamstow but want to get out to get more space, cleaner air, safety etc. Ideally looking for somewhere with a bit of a creative vibe, left leaning or with liberal pockets ideally. Budget is £1.2M, good schools also a requirement. Where should we look and where have others gone (and liked)?

A long time ago, but my parents moved to Harlow.

Oldham. Great schools, beautiful countryside, thriving town centre and really good sense of community. Plenty of houses within budget.

You don't need leave London just head to Highams Park. We moved from E17. It's totally different and ticks your boxes. Lovely community vibe, Epping on your door step. Houses are larger as are gardens. Ours is amazing. Our only regret is not doing it sooner

Houses are also very expensive in the city itself though, you probably get the same sort of property for your money as E17

Here is a nice detached house in Cambridge for £1.25m or a smaller, but pretty and more central townhouse for £1.1m if you want to do some window shopping!

I’ve heard good things about Highams Park. I think this would be our compromise option if we had to stay within the m25.

We were in N17 ( does that still count ) and moved to Rochester

We both worked in London south of the Thames

I do like Cambridge…..think it’s somewhere we should visit.
