Garden of dreams or kitchen of dreams?

If we stay in our home and renovate I’ll get to choose a beautiful kitchen. Large island, pantry etc.

Also seen a house I love with an amazing garden and views but kitchen is small-ish (and done recently that I couldn’t justify ripping it out. It’s nicely done despite size).

Which would you go for?

House 1 (large new kitchen, average garden)
House 2 (beautiful garden, small kitchen)

House 2 on the basis that in time I could always do something with the kitchen but I can never buy the amazing view / garden with House 1

I would far rather spend more time in the garden than the kitchen

have you thought about an outside kitchen ?

Garden for the space, you can change the kitchen in the future if you need to.

What is your family set up? When my kids were kids I would of went for large kitchen as they wouldn't appreciate a beautiful garden, but now I'd go for a beautiful garden. What's the size of the garden?

What's the scope for improving the kitchen in house 2 over time?
I'd be massively inclined to go for the garden.
Or wait for another house that has something of both?

House 2. You can change the kitchen later. Can’t add a garden.

Tricky decision but I would generally go for the space on the basis that you could always do the kitchen later but can't add garden space.

However do bear in mind that gardens very quickly look a mess if you don't keep up the work and the larger the garden the more the work.

I’d rather have a nice kitchen all year round. British gardens only look good for about 1/3 of the year imo.

From age 50, I would chosen garden and view every time. As previously stated you can’t add a view later.
However what I can’t know are your personal circumstances, e.g. the age of your children (if applicable), how connected/disconnected the current kitchen is, and whether there is a reasonable solution to extending it in the future, and whether you work full time/part time - will you have sufficient time for gardening.
Good luck!

Personally I would probably go choice 1 based on how many months I would use the garden compared to the kitchen all year round. That being said if there was scope in the future to make the kitchen bigger and what I wanted I would put up with it for a couple of years to have both! 😆

I think the view from your kitchen hughely is important. We see it all year round. Could money improve Garden 1 enough, or extend Kitchen 2?

Garden of dreams! Kitchen's don't really interest me and I dislike islands especially.
