Isleworth/Hounslow and Mogden Sewage Treatment Works

Could someone please help me locate on a map the Mogden Sewage Treatment Works? All I could find is that it is in the Ivybridge area of Isleworth but I couldn't find it as such on googlemaps.

On a separate note, do all areas of Isleworth suffer from the smell depending where the wind blows? Do areas around Syon Park/Osterley suffer from it as well? Other parts of Hounslow?

i just looked on Google maps and you are quite right, they do not seem to be marked on there! If you look at the Twickenham Stadium end of Mogden Lane there is a roundabout with a Tesco on, the waterworks entrance is on the north of that roundabout. If you look at the satellite image you can see the works to the north of the Stadium.

With regards to Syon Park / Osterley I can confirm that the works smell does not reach them at all; but the closer you get to the river at Syon the more you get the river smell. I’m not really sure about the rest of Hounslow, but hopefully someone else can help!

We lived nearby for five years. I will be very honest - it varied A LOT.

The first time we viewed a house nearby we had to cancel the viewing because my husband was retching at the stench. It really was horrible and the heat of summer.
The houses nearby were priced accordingly. We had some friends who lived nearby who often couldn't sit in their garden - I think it depended on what stage of treatment the works were at.

If it was a hot, still day you could really smell it. Google 'Mogden Pong' on the local news websites and you will find it.

But then it would go for weeks or months without really smelling. The water company put a lot of money into improving it. The only place I would say was consistently bad was the path right by it - that really was awful. Otherwise it varied but was like a drain-y, river-y type smell most of the time within about 250 yards of it.
