Damp wardrobes

We have very large (3m) free standing wardrobes in our bedroom. They had to go against an external wall due chimney breasts, windows, doors etc on other walls. We left a small gap and there are a couple of air bricks on that wall. They are still quite damp inside. I fill them with those dehumidifier packs which definitely help but is there anything more I can do?
They are way too big for me to move, but I bet if I could the wall behind them would be mouldy. Is there some kind of sheets of insulation I could see if I could slip behind them in the small gap?

I think you need to deal with the issues of the wall to solve the problem. Can you get help with dismantling / moving, to see what's going on / growing behind them?

Possibly. There's nothing wrong with the wall itself, no leaks etc. it's just restricted airflow and condensation on a very cold surface! 1930's brick wall, no cavity, no insulation. With hindsight I should have thermal lined the room before anything was put in it.

Taking the wardrobes out would be a very last resort for me. As you say, it's likely to be condensation on the outside wall. Do you have an electric dehumidifier? I would try to get the humidity in the house right down and keep it warmer if possible as that will warm the wall and also reduce the relative humidity.

Hey OP

We had this and what has helped.....
No drying clothes inside.
Bathroom door shut and window open whe showering.
Moving the wardrobes away from external walls. Around 3 inches. Allowing air to flow.
