Cost of knocking through a galley kitchen into old shower room/ wc

I know these are a bit 'how long is a piece of string' but we're looking at a house with kitchen leading into a small area at the back which currently has a shower room and wc. I'm wondering roughly what the costs are to make structural changes to make that area part of the kitchen and possibly relocate the wc. It's an area of maybe 4m2. Anyone who has done this and can give me a ballpark figure? We're in the SE

Someone on here had a quote for £55000 for something similar recently.

We had a vaguely similar project in 2018. Knocked down a wall to create a larger kitchen diner rather than the old galley kitchen and created a new downstairs loo & shower. Our budget was £25k but we actually ended up spending over £30k. Given inflation since then and the reduced availability of tradespeople I would budget for £50k now.

Nb you'll need to check the accuracy of this as I am not an expert, but I think you would not get building regs signoff of you don't include a new downstairs loo in your plans, because building changes that make a building less compliant with the various codes that are in place to make all homes reasonably accessible (in case of future mobility needs) include there being a downstairs loo. It's fine for an older building to not have one if it's never had one, but removing an existing one and not replacing it may be a problem.

good point. You aren't allowed to take downstairs toilets out any more.

I did not know that about downstairs toilets! thank you. But would be looking to relocate rather than get rid of it
