If you have an alarm and uncaged pets do you have passive infrared sensors (PIRs) or window/door vibration sensors?

I am getting quotes and have one guy telling me PIR won't work well with cats and another saying the opposite
I think vibration sensors cost more maybe?

Our alarm was fitted 6 years ago and has pir's- my cat has never set it off, in fact I remember the guy servicing our previous house alarm before we moved saying that alarms had come a long way and we wouldn't need to worry about pets setting off the alarm with the new ones! So the guy telling you not to have pir's is trying to get more cash out of you (imo)!
