Freeland Witney

Hi,

we are thinking of considering West Oxfordshire for a move. Anyone know of Freeland who can give me some opinions on the village please. We are moving for Schooling.

Freeland's nice and you're in catchment for an outstanding secondary (nearby primaries are all fine).Hanborough station isn't far. The A40 is a pain, though.

A40 into Oxford is really busy in the morning(if you're planning to commute to Oxford). Not a fan of Witney, thinks it's gone down hill.

Thats good to know. We are only going for schooling.

The primary schools are all pretty good in this bit of Oxfordshire, and there are a few excellent secondaries dotted around.

When you say downhill, do you mean the town centre itself or the surrounding villages too?

Freelance and the surrounding area are lovely. Witney isnt as great as it used to be, but still a decent town with all the things you would need for kids - swimming pool, gyms, parks, dance classes, football, rugby, martial
Arts clubs...... recommend this area in general for a family move.

Check which secondary school you're in catchment for. The one in Witney is not supposed to be very good. Eynsham is outstanding

Just the town itself. Freelance, long Hanborough etc are nice. Just not witney.

I like Witney and live very close. I find it great for shopping, meeting friends for coffee. There are lovely walks around Freeland.
