Wool carpet and moths?

Currently have very crushed synthetic carpets inherited from the previous owners and looking to replace them with a nice tight loop carpet. Have seen some lovely samples from Westex but have started to wonder whether moths with be an issue. We do have a wool runner which looks as good as new but wondering whether moths are really that big a problem? Westex website says they’re moth proofed but not sure that’s a guarantee.

anyone have any advice?

I’d look into the effectiveness of their moth proofing before deciding. Does it stop all moth damage?
I had wool carpets in previous house and moths were a problem. If I’d replaced them I’d not have chosen wool again, unless the proofing was a guaranteed to be effective.

Yes, get moth proof carpets. Where I live it's rife with moths and I had quite the problem. I thought I had got rid off them then they started munching on a wool rug.

I bought moth proof loop wool carpet from Cormar. I've replaced wool rugs with synthetic. Don't get wool sofas either, they ate mine.

We're about to rip out 80/20 Cormar carpets and replace with synthetic because they've been trashed by moths, even in high traffic areas.

I find they are fussy and don’t like mixed fibres. I have replaced all my carpets with synthetic wool effect ones. Someone I know had moth proof ones and still had moth damage very quickly. So 80/20 wool would work I think.

I think speak to the carpet store - I bought wool carpets with a guarantee

The guarantee is that if you get moths, the carpets get replaced (which is fine for me)

You CAN prevent them by diligent hoovering (including sides), and making sure that you disturb any nesting places, and using products (i like pest expert formula C)

Had a horrific moth infestation in a former home but I like wool & am prepared for the upkeep
