Blocked sink

Any tips on how to unblock a kitchen sink?
My oven gloves failed me yesterday and I ended up in a panic dropping the oven dish in the sink, so the drain is blocked with wagu beef dripping. I've poured a heavy duty drain unblocker but it isn't budging.

Can you unscrew the trap underneath? That's been the most effective (but grosssest) way of clearing our sink that I've found. 🤢

Luigi's sink and drain plunger from Amazon but I'm sure it's available elsewhere too is excellent. It's a very powerful plunger and we've used it to unblock our kitchen sink a few times. I rarely find sink unblocker to be that helpful.

When my sink got blocked after DH poured the fat from a roast lamb in it (urgh) nothing budged it because jt had solidified in the unbend under the sink - I filled a bowl of boiling water and put it under the bend the heat melted the fat again and I could flush the sink with hot water.

boil the kettle
pour down the sink, several times if needs be.

Loads of boiling water and washing up liquid

Boiling water and root around with a piece of wire to break up the blockage (old wire coat hanger is ideal).

Lots of fairy liquid and a large saucepan of boiling water (better than a kettle, you need as much water as you can).

Definitely agree with this . Could try the boiling water if its fat/grease that's blocking it. But i would take the trap off. And have a bucket/bowl under the trap. So it will hopefully come out and not work it's way further down and block in a difficult place .

Did you use the strong sink unblocker over night ?

In this instance, I would warm the u-bend with a hairdryer to melt the fat and then pour a few kettles full of boiling water. Then some washing soda and more boiling water and run hot water and basic washing up liquid to clear any remaining fat molecules.

Managed to unblock it, unscrewed the u bend under the sink and used boiling water, washing up liquid and a bottle brush. Thanks for all the tips!
