Garden cabin Vs shaded deck

Hi all, I'd like to upgrade my garden this year and am really torn on what to do. I'd always planned to put a cabin at the bottom of my garden with a dart board and all the usual teenage stuff plus a little patio terrace however, lately I've been looking at a neighbours garden, she steps out of her back door onto a decked area that has comfy outdoor seats a little bar area and a conservatory style roof over it (open sides) I really like it.

Has anyone with teens had a cabin put in and found they don't really use it? I'm a bit worried I'll spend all this money for it to sit and go rotten, we don't really have friends over it would be more for the kids.

Would that be a veranda?
Very sensible as they allow you to be outside but protected from direct rain.
If one side is up against a boundary you can have a glass side (clear/frosted/coloured) for added protection & privacy.

Were you planning on putting heating and electric in the cabin? If so they're quite different propositions - a veranda would likely only be used on summer evenings (assuming you're in the UK). A cabin can be used year-round.

Could you do a cabin with a small veranda?
