Social housing roof problems

My kitchen ceiling has been leaking for many years. When it rains it floods the kitchen and my kitchen light doesn't work because of damp. There was also black mould.

The HA keep sending roofers up to fix the problem but they never do. I've been to my MP but she hasn't been great, wrote to them but that's all.

A surveyor was here yesterday, said the roof needs a lot of repair but he doesn't have the budget. I think the roof needs to be replaced not repaired. They've repaired it for years.

What should I do?

Your Housing Association should have a complaints process, have you been through that? They should also have policies on the website about what is considered safe in regards to electrics and water/leaks, so they may be breaching their own rules by not sorting this.

Thanks. As far as they're concerned they are sorting it as they keep 'repairing' it. I'm with an awful HA who lie to the Ombudsman etc

When it first happened I did go through their complaints policy because they took a year to sort it out but since then when I complain, they send up roofers.

This time I insisted on a surveyor but I'm concerned I'm going to get the same result. There's a no win no fee solicitors that deal with this kind of issue I can use, I'm not sure if I should go with them.
