Renovation insurance?

We're about to start a 6 month renovation of our house. We've chosen a builder and are sorting JCT contracts. The builders have all the relevant insurance in place, but we're mindful we need our own renovation insurance too.

The builder has recommended joint names insurance. Is this the same as renovation insurance? We want to make sure we're properly protected but equally don't want to start over insuring stuff!

Can anyone recommend a policy or provider they've used before?

Yes, you need to decide which insurance to take under the contract. Joint names is the one to use.

Ah brilliant, that's really helpful thank you. Lots of people advertise Renovation Insurance, but I couldn't work out if they were all Joint Names or something else. Will speak to a couple of brokers then.
