Covering a chimney opening

Hello,

The chimney breast in my room has the open brick bit but no fireplace. I want to get fitted wardrobes across that whole wall, what do I need to do to the chimney opening?

You can board it a bit but it needs a grate and ventilation otherwise you'll get damp.

do i need to put the ventilation on the board that i would cover up the hole with?

Yes, we have an air vent in ours just above the skirting board. It's about 4 inches square.
No air brick in our other fireplace and we have damp in that wall so definitely worth doing!
