I can feel the springs in his mattress and it's very uncomfortable. Any suggestions, most seem to be sold online needs days 😕

My DS has this one, I've slept on it a few times and I think it's comfier than my own!! Sprung Hybrid Mattresses If you've got a bed shop near you it might be worth taking him to try a few to see if he prefers a more firm or a softer mattress, although the Range have a 14 days return policy so you could order online and then send back if he doesn't like it.

if he’s likely to be tall, I’d look at getting a small double bed.

Unfortunately, he is in the box room so wouldn't give him much space .

OP the best mattresses we have are from Ikea - they are really comfortable and last a long time. We've bought VERY expensive ones (Warren Evans I'm looking at you!) that are much worse than our Ikea ones - I think you can't go wrong with them. I even got super lucky with one Ikea mattress from FB marketplace, where the seller was converting their spare room into an office so the mattress had barely been used... Best of luck finding something!

I agree with @WoolyMammoth55 that IKEA are really good. You could also go to a store and have him try them out.

Also looking for decent mattress for my teen and don’t know where to start! Hadn’t thought of IKEA.

I won't buy mattresses from anywhere other than IKEA now. They are just excellent value for money. I do second the suggestion of a small double bed though. My DS is also in the box room and although he has no floor space, he does need the bed space and - tbh - in a box room there is no floor space with a single either so he may as well be comfortable in bed!

DS has a pocket sprung mattress with a memory foam top. It was from Dreams and was quite expensive compared to others they sold, but we knew he'd be using it for a long time. He has no complaints and when I've laid on it I've found it comfortable.
