Front door

Hello!

I'd like a new front door, something smart in between contemporary and traditional.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but also want quality. Some of the leading companies Anglia etc I don't think I'd go to.

Can anyone recommend any online companies?

I have no idea where to start!

Thank you 😊

What sort of costs are involved in buying a new door and installing?

Holding off on clicking the quote button on websites as I was hounded last time I tried for windows!

Same. Any idea how much this would be?

I really wouldn't use any of those companies you'll be ripped off chronically.
I would buy a wooden door and get someone to paint and hang it. Something like this

I went for a Solidor through a local double glazers, they had a shop/showroom locally which I preferred to an online only. Thoroughly went through their reviews on Google. There is an online design tool which I sent them the design, they quoted with drawings back and we liaised by phone for any changes and updates. In person survey and measurements taken once order was in. The service was excellent and in future I wouldn't expect anything less. This isn't the same level of service I've received elsewhere.
Paid about £1800 for door and installation.

@SeLHopeful2024 mine was about £1,600 for new composite door inc installation. How that compares with a wooden door I’m not sure.

Cherryblossom200 · 26/01/2025 13:07

Fab thanks, I definitely what a composite door. I've been quoted so far almost £2 for the door and installation. But want to get that down!

Thanks @Hugmorecats
That's the sort of price I can cope with.
In excess of £2k would seem a lot given everything else we have to fix.

Another vote for Solidoor.

I have an Endurance door - very high quality but because I needed a side glass panel it was quite costly at £1957 plus VAT. Great door mind. The less glass, coloured glass and fancy letter plates etc the cheaper it is. There were a few local installers doing the door and I picked the one with the best reviews.
