Kitchen planning services?

Hi.

We are getting a new kitchen - we'll take down a wall between kitchen and dining room.

Our builder has said order the kitchen and he'll work around the arrival date. Do we just measure it ourselves and then go into wren/howdens/wickes etc and they'll help plan? Or do they come and measure? It's a tad awkward to measure with the wall not being down yet plus the shape.

We like (and the builder highly recommended) DIY kitchens but they don't do any planning services.

Any advice with measuring/planning appreciated. Thanks

If you arrange an appointment, Howdens help plan and measure. We also found local kitchen shops helpful.

Get your builder to give you the measurements and use the DIY Kitchens online planner. We’ve did this and then drive to their showroom to see the kitchen and have a chat with a planner who finessed our plan.
Thry have a good range of sizes for drawers, cupboards whereas I found Magnet and the others didn’t. DIY were also a good third cheaper than the others with lovely service.
Our friends cancelled their Wren kitchen as they were messed around by them so much and have now got a lovely DIY Kitchen instead.

If you want to use DIY kitchens, I would invest in a laser measure and try to take the measurements yourself. You should be able to measure the thickness of the wall around the door frame.

Thanks. I've booked Wren to come out. I don't trust my measurements and was stressing with the online planner. Then I'll book to go down to diy kitchens and get them to price up the plans to compare. X
