I finally have a home after years of pain!!!!!!

Hey and I’m not bragging at all to anyone who’s been in my previous situation but 4 years in temporary accommodation a house fire in one stalked in another lived in hotels and one bedroom flats and a hostel one completely riddled with rodents when my child was newborn (left hospital and went there). Today I picked up my keys to my own flat with a small garden!!! For my children ! I have never been more excited and greatful. I’ve had to move away due to my stalking and had no one to celebrate with but I feel so happy and wanted to share some good news!!!

Thank you all so much I don’t not yet but I thought I’d share some good news and maybe someone reading who was in my before situation might feel as if their waiting will have an end. I heard the council waiting list i was on is currently 6 years for a 3 bed and 5 for a 2 bed ❤️ but so glad of the ending and really appreciate it all x

Fabulous! Hope you are enjoying a nice cosy evening in your new home. Having your own secure space is wonderful. I would recommend some fluffy blankets if you can stretch to them.

That's so great! My friend is celebrating one year in her permanent flat after a very long and tough period of having to move around. The difference it has made to her mental and physical health is incredible to see. I wish you all the best OP.

That's lovely OP, great news for you all. We were in the same position at one point as children (living in homeless/temporary) and I remember going to see the flat we were offered, I just loved it and we had a very happy 20+ years there. Take your time, get it the way you want it and don't worry if you can't furnish/decorate right away. Me and my DM shared a single bed for a year and didn't have carpets in all the rooms for about 2 years. We didn't care, we were safe in our lovely flat.

I really needed to hear that as the fear of the Noo carpets started to creep in 🤣 but it will take time and it is ours thank you!

You will get there in time with things like carpets & it can feel a bit overwhelming when you first move in somewhere and think of all you have to do to make it homely. But the main thing is - you’re in! ❤️
