Help deciding on carpet

Hello,

We currently have grey carpet from previous owners up the stairs and into 2 rooms - shows every stain or mark im hoovering everyday. Where a lot of the downstairs walls are a grey colour which we don't mind I feel the grey carpet to is to much of same thing. Id love a more neutral colour, that also matches green as that what the hallway is now painted in. Thing is we have young kids and 2 cats so there is a lot of foot traffic we need something durable hard wearing but also not massively pricey, only two rooms small landing and stairs. So much to choose from I should go to a carpet shop to get an idea but if anyone has any recommendations I'd really appreciate!

Thanks

I was going to say a gold-y coloured sisal/seagrass for the hall might be great with the green but if your cats are anything like mine, they will just think you've turned half the house into their personal scratching post.

Maybe something like this would work? I think the flecks would mean it looks good even without daily hoovering, and because it's twist pile there's nothing for the cats to get their claws into. https://designer-carpet.co.uk/33937/manx-tomkinson-berber-superior-elder

I did my two small bedrooms and stairs/hallway using several remnants from that website, Designer Carpet, and ended up paying £550ish (not including underlay etc) for a luxe carpet which would've cost at least £1,200 to buy off the roll. But it definitely makes the whole process a lot more involved than if you get, e.g. Tapi to come over and measure up and fit.

Thanks for that link, @Offcom - they've got several remnants that would do me so it's a great help.

Anything with specks in is good as then crumbs and bits don't stand out as much!
