Would we ever get planning for this?

We are on a corner and want to do a forward 2 story extension. The garage and hall/stairs already extend infront of the house so it forms and L shape. The main width if the house is only 4.5m deep and we would like to bring this level with 2 stories but I'm not sure if we would get planning. All houses in the road are completely different if that makes any difference.

Your local council will offer a pre-planning application service to ask them their opinion. It wouldn’t be a total no at my council but entirely depends on what it looks like from the front. Have a look at previous planning applications or look around at what other people have done. Front extensions are more unusual so my council would expect it to be well designed and subservient but it’s not full width so that will help

In my road lots of house have done similar, even extending two storeys right up to line of what used to be a tiny one storey porch sticking out the front (although those were done a while ago now). Our council only seem to care about not coming forward from the building line.
