House selling woe

We’re in the process of buying and selling, we accepted an offer on our house im October, our buyers took until mid December to order a survey, and will not instruct their searches until after they have the report back. Is this normal?
We’re 3 months in and they haven’t done anything?

We’re almost ready to go with on onward purchase but need the chain to complete (just three of us) I’m so stressed!

I absolutely understand getting your survey first in case of issues you don’t want to deal with - but why not do this first when the offer was avbelted, not months later??

That's horrible for you. Why wasn't your EA pushing them? I bought recently (and had an aborted purchase before that) and the EA was constantly nagging.

I would give them a deadline or you will put it back on the market for back up offers

I think we’re going to give them until the end of the week and then say it’ll go back on the market if they don’t commit.

It feels like they’re scared of spending money they might not get back but you can’t be so risk adverse and if you are then do your survey early doors and then get out of the way for other buyers!

As predicted, they’ve messed us about. They’ve pulled out stating issues on the survey BUT WONT TELL US WHAT THEY ARE and are trying to get us to pay them £100 to see the report

Tell them to sod off cheeky time wasters!
