Mortgage when you have cancer?

Hi all,

Myself and my husband are FTB and will be looking to get some professional advice soon as we hope to get on the property ladder.

Unfortunately my husband has cancer, no prognosis as it’s unpredictable, things are up and down but he is stable at the moment and not needing chemotherapy at this time.

I’m assuming we would need to disclose this and wondered if anyone has experience of this and if it will affect us getting a mortgage?
Would we need to have a backup if the worst were to happen, almost like a guarantor? I’ve honestly no idea how any of it works!

Sorry, these thoughts popped into my head this morning and I don’t know who to ask irl!

i'm not sure if you do have to disclose it but if you do, then yes, it will prevent you getting a mortgage.

Sorry your husband is ill.
