When to organise removals

Hi, all being well we will move in Feb. Do not know date yet. Haven’t exchanged yet (hopefully next week for sale, few bits left on purchase hence no date yet)

When can you get removal quotes? Presumably they need a date?

You can get quotes anytime, just don't commit to a date until your solicitor has confirmed completion date.

Get quotes now, they won’t need nor expect a date yet. Then before you agree to an exchange date with the rest of the chain, run it past your chosen removal company first to see if they are free.

Also make sure you have a few back up options, in case you can’t agree a suitable date with the removal company.

You can get quotes now and book the company when you have exchanged and know the completion date.

Agree with everyone else here, but wanted to add that you should get several quotes. There can be huge differences in the quotes - like thousands of pounds difference if you have a large house and / or are moving a longer distance.
