Actually quiet box extractor fan over hob?

Hello!

We really need the quietest box (ie chimney?) extractor fan possible! (Not recirculating, ducted outside.)

Anyone have any suggestions? I feel when I look at reviews, someone says every single one of them is noisy.

Thanks!

They are noisier at high speed. It is quieter to turn them on low before you start cooking and let them run continuously until the plates and pans are in the dishwasher and you have wiped round the hob.

I have seen extractors where the hood is empty and the motor is fitted on the outside wall. They are rare in domestic kitchens.

I like the Elica extractors that go in a dummy bridging unit over the cooker. I suppose the cabinet muffles the noise a bit.

The specs show a dB noise rating but they try to emphasise the low-speed noise. A big fan is usually quieter than a small fan, look fir a 125mm or 150mm duct. I got a 900mm wide one, I couldn't find a 1000mm.
