Coulsdon as our 'forever home' location?

Looking for our 'forever' home, garden, 4 bed. We have seen properties almost everywhere in South West London. Budget is 1.1m. Anyone with any advice on living in Coulsdon or surrounding areas would be greatly appreciated. I'm afraid it's too small/quiet and I'll never meet people

Is there a particular reason for Coulsdon? I think it’s a bit nondescript and the shopping and amenities area is fairly uninspiring. Do you need particular proximity to London? I can see wanting to live there for commuting reasons in the medium term, I can’t imagine wanting to live there “forever.”

We found a lovely house there and that's the main reason. We would need to be no more than a 35/40 minute train to either London Bridge or Waterloo. Ideally looking at areas that have a market town/village vibe and not too far from green spaces.
