Remortgaging house for refurb - help!

My mum owns her property outright of £650,000. I live with her and we want to take out a mortgage on it to refurbish it. I would be making the repayments as i earn, but the house is in her name and she has low income.
Any idea which banks to contact and if this is a joint mortgage/remortgage or an equity release?

You need a mortgage broker and you are looking to release some equity. Based on my experience of doing similar.

If the house is in her name wouldn’t the remortgage need to be and if she is low income then you may not be able to borrow much. You could take out a loan in your name and use it to do up the house. Your mum could look at equity release but that can be expensive & what happens when she dies in terms of you having somewhere to live?
