Hi
We are planning on relocating to Sheffield for close proximity to peak district, close to friends, secondary school

After multiple visits to SW Sheffield the place that ticks the most boxes is Dore

However, would be grateful of opinions from locals on what it's like to live there re community, friendliness, schools
Thanks

Dore is very pleasant, and the secondary school, King Ecgbert's, recently got an excellent ofsted report.
I don't know how friendly it is because I've never lived there, but it's certainly near to the Peak District.

Dore is lovely, ( it was one of the places we seriously considered when we moved to this area ) but it is quite far out of Sheffield. I worked in a community NHS job for years, and I would prefer Fulwood now - lovely community feel with the same semi rural aspect, but closer to the centre due to the shape of the city - it’s up against the Peak District - and with better transport links in . Schools are good too. I also worked in Nether Edge for a while and loved it there, but the nice parts are megabucks - lovely houses with massive gardens. It has indi shops and cafes and has a bit of a boho vibe, but is quite close to the centre so may not suit you.
