Earlier this year, we moved to a property that has no mains gas and has an electric boiler and a separate hot water tank. During our first winter here we just stuck with the standard programmed thermostat that can control both the central heating and the hot water, but I'm pretty sure we can be more energy efficient with a smart thermostat. Our electric use skyrocketed after the cold snap in November and having an EV charger installed, and it has been a bit of a shock even though we had planned for higher utility costs on a full electric household.
We used to have a Nest in our last place with a combi, but I'm a bit confused about what is and isn't possible for our current system. I'd really love to be able to control the heating via an app like when we are out for the day rather than having to sort out holiday mode!
Would be very grateful for info, tips and advice from anyone with an electric boiler/hot water tank setup and has/has tried a smart thermostat etc. Thank you!
