Council tax related question and I'm hoping that's okay.

We have recently moved to the area and set up to pay via direct debit etc. But I've had 2 payments taken and come out my account and it appears on my statement in different names, one with an account number attached and one without. One says "Bristol City Council" one is abbreviated to "BCC".
Not sure if it's because one is a direct debit and one was a card payments maybe?

How does it appear on your statement? Not looking for pictures or anything, just wanted to know if this is normal to how it is or could be for anyone else or if I need to call the bank for something suspicious?

Sorry if that seems odd to anyone, I feel it can be overly paranoid sometimes so I like to ask before I jump the gun! Hope it's okay to post and ask!

Give them a ring

If you know your council tax number you can set up an online account and see all the details there.
Try that and if youre still unsure then give them a call as they don't respond to emails as they are short staffed.

Hello,

Our Bristol Council Tax appears on our bank statement as

Bristol Council L Tax.

I'd ring them and ask but there could be two payments as the year of council tax is split over 10 months not 12. You don't pay in Feb and March.

So they may have taken extra depending on when you moved and how much you owe so you then get Feb and March with no payment - just a thought?

I think this is if you’re there for the year. If you’re less probably they take all the months. Taking into account it’s nearly end of tax year probably OP is paying every month including feb and march. I think it was something like that for me when I first rented 15 years ago.
