Kitchen sink recess?

Hi

New kitchen and I'm debating a recess/niche behind the sink for washing up liquid, cloths, hand wash. Sink is against a wall

I had feedback today that I might regret it in a beautiful modern kitchen and they are becoming a bit dated.

I love them in THEORY and am having one in my shower DEFINITELY.

I'm just on the fence about this one! It also occurs to me it might all look a bit busy with the 2in counter upstand strip behind [no splashback], but then the wall cupboard over the sink is higher than the adjacent ones too. So I'm veering towards not doing it and getting an organiser shelf in the future if i really can't cope with putting the Fairy away in the drawer under the sink.

MN opinion sought 😀. Thanks in advance!!!

Sounds like you'd get water/drips/soap in the niche so not practical. Also would look messy having stuff stored in it.

Gosh, no, get one of those special drawers for underneath the sink that have shelving all around, really useful.
