Buying the freehold

I posted about this last week and just posted this in legal....

I bought a Leashold house in July and am now in a position to buy the freehold.

I've contacted the property company who manage it and they have offered me a price and a form to fill in. It seems pretty straightforward to me.

However being risk adverse I've contacted the solicitors who arranged my purchase for advice and they have said they can do it for £762. But I just don't know where they're getting their quote/price from and it seems really expensive.

They have sent me an email that bore no relevance to my situation and was the EXACT same letter they sent out when I bought my house. It even said they were awaiting the memorandum of sale from the estate agents! 🤷‍♀️

I have to fill out the same forms I had for my purchase asking me about stamp duty and searches. They want proof of identity. All of this was given to them 5 months ago.

I refuse to pay for things again.

Am I stupid to just fill the form in and pay the £10k to the management company.

Not impressed with the solicitor at all.

The big thing is that if its done through a Solicitor its insured and you have comeback if it goes pear shaped

@JohnofWessex I agree, hence why I've instructed them.

BUT they have shown true sloppiness with their communication.
