Has anyone got any experience of Colt houses? Interested to hear about pros and cons of these non standard builds. Thanks in advance

We have a few near us in beautiful plots, absolutely stunning.

BUT you can’t get a mortgage in them so will have to be cash buyers and the ones near us, despite being very beautiful, have been on the market longer than other houses with many price reductions. They’re hard to sell so if you must buy one, definitely make sure you get a brilliant deal so you don’t loose equity if you move.

Thanks WidgetDigit2022

I definitely need to research this more thoroughly. It's the first time I've ever heard of them so need to gain a better understanding of what's involved.

You CAN get mortgages on them OP, just not one where you have a low deposit

What do you class as a low deposit?

We had 25% deposit and our broker advised no one would get a mortgage, mortgage lenders don’t like them. He may be wrong, but I’d guess not given how long they’re in the market and the much lower price point they sell at compared to standard construction.

Thanks NotEatingApples We would have approx 70% deposit so hopefully that might make borrowing slightly easier.
