Kitchen ideas - colourful, not necessarily fitted, open shelving - ideas, links?

We want to get our kitchen done, which will involve knocking through kitchen and dining room and replacing the outward-opening French windows with bifolds or similar.

What I really want is something colourful, bright, and not necessarily fitted. I'd also like open shelves rather than cabinets on the top. I'd like to approach some designers but apparently I need some sort of mood board and I'm struggling to put one together. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've tried Pinterest but I tend to get a bit lost in it.
