Dishwasher not working- ideas?

Hi all,

our Samsung dishwasher is not working. Programs start, but nothing happens and after a while the error code HE appears. We tried to wait for 24 hours but didn’t make any difference. It appears the water drains regularly. The dishwasher is just over 10 years old and not in warranty anymore. Have you seen anything similar? Is it worth trying to call someone to fix it or it is better to buy a new one?

What does the code indicate? I assume you've looked it up before posting.

Maybe he stands for heating element?

It is a heating issue, but I couldn’t find any other information online
