Estate Agent Fees

Could anyone who has moved in England in the last 6 months or so let me know what percentage they paid their estate agent please. It is a while since I've moved and I'd like to get a rough idea before I start making appointments for them to bid for my business. Thank you.

A physical office. We are in the north.

To give a bit of context, could you give an indication roughly what price bracket you were selling in?

A lot of EAs will charge a set % with a minimum amount chargeable for cheaper properties. We've always had at least 3 different ones round and usually find the terms are the same in a given area as there's a going rate. Anyone who wouldn't just tell us we discounted as it usually means there's a hard sell involved.

Mine was 1.5% in London, property value 350k

I used getAgent and it gave me a list of all the local ones and their fees.

This year we paid 1.2% (inc. VAT) in London, Zone 4.

Our property was on at 785K and we sold it for the asking price. The local agent is very active in our area. We had bought that house through the same agent.

GetAgent charge the agent at least 0.25%, so you will likely get a better deal by going direct.

1% fee for us, sold house at £320,000

1% sold at 320k in the east

1.15%

1% on £500k SE.

1% in Hertfordshire £430k

1% inc VAT, property around £1m, south west. Independent local agent with good track record in my area.

I've been paying 1% + VAT, min £2500 recently, middle England.

Zone 2, London. 1.25% on £525k

I did that after I just did it for ballpark figures.

1% SE, multiple physical offices.

Our chosen EA told is that anyone asking for morr was having us on.

Independent in “ eastern south west”. 1.5% including staged photoshoot, brochure, virtual tour, property magazine listing and agent to conduct all viewings. Was a whisper sale but would have been the same had it not been so that wasn’t a factor ( some agents do charge more for whisper sales though).

Southeast, £700k asking price, 0.9% + VAT. Not great to be honest and not sure what they’re doing for their fee but the market is so flat here still

6k fixed fee on 725K sale, Herts,

Between 1% and 1.25% (the 1% was from a company who offered me a special discount from 2%, allegedly 😆 and I thought that pretending to give a special offer was pretty rubbish so have not gone with them despite being the cheapest).

I've not heard the phrase 'whisper sale' before.

Does that mean selling without listing on websites?
