options:

  1. five light over table centre room and three light in other space ( asymmetrical)
  2. two three lights one over table and other space
  3. Five light over table and spot light in other space.
not sure what would look better? Can any kind people help ?

My layout is similar and had matching light fittings put in. Because of the open plan layout it looked weird with different lighting in the 2 different areas (which is how it was when I bought the house).

So I'd go for option 2 with independent dimmable switches.

Thanks Iโ€™m
a bit worried they three lights are too small โ€ฆ.. but maybe better than too big. Which was why I thought maybe one bigger light and a simple spot.

I would match the 2 flight fixtures or have them come from the same family and have spot lights near kitchen worktops. All on independent switches.

Radishknot · 08/12/2024 10:55

And make the lights dimmable as pp said.

Yes thereโ€™s are spot lights in kitchen. Cabinet lighting etc so donโ€™t use them that much.

the lights are matching but one is five light and one is three light.

Iโ€™d favour them being the exact same but it will probably work with 3 & 5. I think 3 lights would look crowded. @i

Looks like my local Travelodge interior.

Looks like my local Travelodge interior.

Was there any need for that?

Nogg · 08/12/2024 11:32

Thanks itโ€™s not a travel lodge itโ€™s just a pic for the room layout. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Matching, or the 3&5 combo.
Since the room narrows, I think you'll get away with a smaller fitting in the snug area. Proportionally it won't look as different as if the room was a straight rectangle.

I like those lights but would be concerned that they'd collect dust. I've got one in the stairwell where the glass is the other way up and even with that you can see the dust sitting on top.

I'd go with 2 the same, but would find choosing between the 3 & 5 difficult.

You can unscrew them to clean them so dust is ok. I only have two three lights of one 5 light.
