Proof of electrical qualifications

I had a company around to quote me for some work yesterday and I asked for evidence of qualifications/what professional body they were registered with to ensure they were properly qualified to carry out the work.
The guy said it was the first time he had been asked in 20 years!
It seems that most people are more trusting than I am - people should be checking these things more!

You can check it all online - wouldn’t you do that before you got them out? Same with gas engineers.

you are right in that people need to be checking these things more. DH is an electrician & forever coming up against cheaper unqualified people who don't work to any regulations or he is brought in to sign off shoddy work (which he refuses to do)
