Hi, live in a terraced house, we’d like a supa king size ottoman bed.
the ones we have seen have headboards that will not go up our stairs, or through any window.
does anyone no of one that comes without a head board?
manythanks.

Go to a bed showroom. All the headboards are brought separately from the bed base. If you don’t want a headboard you don’t need to buy one

Thanks, that’s not what we have been told in the shops.

Hi, thanks. That’s a divan. Can’t get a divan up the stairs. Terraced house stairs are very tight.

We need self assembly to get the parts upstairs.

Would a super king mattress fit through your narrow stairwell? We had to return our gorgeous new sofa that wouldn’t fit up our stairwell by 4cm. There was no angling, budging or shoving that worked. 😭

Those divan beds come in two separate parts, like two singles. We have just had a similar one delivered with no problems. The superking mattress was a bit of a squeeze on the stairs but the two young men managed it with a bit of brute force 🙂

Hi, thank you. It is impossible to get a single divan up the stairs of a terrace house. It needs to be flat packed.

Just to nit pick - being a terrace is irrelevant- it's I would guess the fact that you have a small narrow steep staircase ( with bends?) that is the problem

Look for something wooden that can be taken completely apart - screwed not glued

midgetastic · 03/12/2024 15:26

Am usually the base is bigger than the headboard

I live in a terraced house and have a Super King Ottoman bed. Do you have a quarter staircase? Was easy enough to get up ours. We paid for them to assemble in the room for us!

Is it an Ottoman you want specifically or just a bed with decent storage underneath? We have the Ikea Nordli in our spare room and it’s a much better storage solution than an Ottoman, I reckon. Ikea also have Ottoman bed models, which I would assume are flat packed.

bebanjo · 04/12/2024 22:23

Hi, I will look at ikea, thank you.
yes I know it is the bend in the stairwell that is the problem, that’s why I said I need flat pack.
we have a supa king already mattress is a memory foam, they come rolled up.
thank you all.

Just to add, my husband is able and willing to build one himself but I can’t be bothered.

Just so you are aware not all terrace houses have the same stairs. We live in a terrace and got a single divan and the two parts of a double divan up the stairs no problem.

Look at Beliani uk , loads of flat packed divan style beds

Sofas more of a problem for us as sharp turn in a narrow hallway. With beds, I think headboard element is detachable as there can’t be many houses that it would go through the door of otherwise. Here our ceiling is high, stairs steep but bedroom 3 or up and over banister works
