Keen to leave Eastbourne. How to persuade husband?!

Lovely husband has always lived in Eastbourne, I have moved about and much prefer smaller, more rural locations. When I moved in with him it was supposed to be just for a year or so while he did up his house then we’d move to a village….12 years later we’re still here and although he says he’d be open to looking at other towns he really thinks everywhere is just the same and it doesn’t matter where we live so we might as well just stay put. We’re saving to possibly move to Willingdon village in the next few years but tbh I see that as Eastbourne still! With all the decline in Eastbourne services, swimming pool, hospital etc, and increasing population I really want to persuade him to consider other towns in East Sussex… Battle and Heathfield are my preferred areas.
I’d really appreciate any thoughts, tips to persuade him, fairly local villages to consider, (or tell me to give my head a wobble and stay put in Eastbourne as it really is the best possible place to live in E Sussex!) Is Willingdon lovely enough to live or just another suburb of Eastbourne? Has anyone here lived in Jevington or East dean? They might be easier for him to adapt to, being a walk over the downs to Eastbourne!
Thanks if you got this far!

Sorry it turned into a waffle!
I suppose I’m getting desperate and would especially like to hear from others who moved out of Eastbourne to a smaller town or village within East Sussex and who could reassure my dh that it worked out ok!

What don’t you like about Eastbourne and what do you think you need from another place or town to be happy? What about budget? Do you need to be near work, family, public transport?

East Dean and Jevington are nice villages with good communities but public transport isn't great so you need to drive everywhere. We like the area for walking. Maybe your dh doesn't want to give up the convenience of Eastbourne.

Eastbourne is too big, busy and crowded for me, I crave a smaller, quieter place. It no longer feels like a good place to raise our young children now that the paediatric unit has closed, maternity unit all but closed, swimming pool is closing, stabbings increasing.. I feel like our children would have a better future in a different town or village. One of those gut instinct things, telling me we really should find somewhere else soon. We are self employed and work at home so no problem there.

I can understand my husband not wanting a rural village (I’d go off grid if I could!) but I’ve given his world enough of a chance now and towns like Battle and Heathfield seem like they could be a much better compromise.

I'd say Uckfield fits your requirements. I know more than one family who set up home there and they really like it.

Thank you, actually that could be a great compromise!

Just took a look on RightMove, I wonder why this one hasn’t sold? It looks dreamy!:

@RememberedBills ooh that’s lovely! I guess it’s position right by a very busy road junction has put people off, but it’s absolutely gorgeous.
